Deliver What You Promised Up Front

Business

In Business and when dealing with people, I find this very important, if you say you are going to do something whether it be provide a service or a product, do it. So often I have seen first hand businesses that promise the world up front but then fail to follow through. I find this the height of incompetence on their behalf and just end up being disappointed. Poor planning, lack of resources, and a lack of funding can all play a part in people not being able to deliver, but I think people need to realise this – bad reviews circulate like wildfire and it does not take long for people to tell their friends/colleagues/the world of Social Media about a bad experience with a business or service provider, and that can take years to undo if at all.

As the title says, Deliver what you promised up front, its that simple. Follow through with your services or products, if you can’t – get in touch with your customers or clients and let them know that there is going to be a delay or that something is not currently available – soften the blow. It’s common decency and in this day and age of Social Media and the wide range of consumer choices available, those in the business of supply and demand can no longer afford to be picky or poorly run as they will lose the business and their reputation when people go elsewhere.

I realise that sometimes things get busy and things get missed, but I think these days the consumer demands perfection where possible and often 100% of the time. We are an educated society and have the world quite literally at our finger tips and are running out of excuses not to perform at our best.

Treat others as you wish to be treated, as the old saying goes, and I firmly believe that all will be right with the world!

Until next time…so long!

Deliver what you promised. That title says it all. So often we find consultants and business owners who utter mere words without realizing the longer term business impact. Wish this would become a norm again as in the early days. Thanks for sharing
